What is MMM?
The Margaret Morris Movement (MMM) is a unique method of dance based exercise. The many aspects include:
Graded (colour) exercises that use the basic techniques of posture, walking, breathing, balance and natural opposition movement to produce a series of exercises. Each colour (starting at basic and ending at green) builds on from the previous, to enable the student to progress safely from simple exercise to complex dance pieces. During the process coordination and agility is improved as well as body tone and strength and an overall sense of well-being.
Dance Technique that incorporates the work achieved from the colour exercises and utilises a reportoire of movements, of which there are 4 grades, to aid choreograghy, creative dance and improvisation.
Free movement and improvisation is an important part of MMM. Students are taught and encouraged to use the movements learnt through the technique of colourwork to create their own dance and to work with others.
MMM London promotes MMM in the Greater London Area.
